Pollard's Opera Company.
The Torcuior, the London Orai^ty success to bo ' introduced to o\ir notice on, Monday evening by the Pollard- Opera Company, is, according to the latest 'Era.'still going strong at the famous Strand Theatre; and the shareholders o£ the London ,Gaiety Company, 'by the way, should be very gratefril to the-Tpfeador,"' as a dividend of 20 per cent." has been declared for the year, with 'J27090 "to reserve account and ■£ 14,814 18s 6d written off dresses, etc., for depreciation."- The music of "The Toreador" is said to be above that found, in the ordinary run of musical comedies. Some of the chief- items are — 'My Toreador,' 'The Language df Flowers,' 'The/roreador's Song,' I Want' 'to Marry -Amelia,' Tin Romantic,' and 'Keep off ]the Grass.' Miss Alice iSigar^ who fs rapidly -becoming a greater favourite with New Zealand playgoers', is said to be exceptionally good as 'Mrs Hoppings ; " in iact, there is "not a weak char.acter in the whole performance, according to northern contemporaries." *«'*.-
