Caledonian Championship Meeting.

The programme issued by the Wangauui Caledonian Society for the two days' Championship Meeting, which takes place ,on ■Thursday and Friday, 22nd and 23rd o\ January, is , a very attractive one, and should be the means of- inducing entries from all partß of the colouy. Tiie. championship events include foot racing (both nat and hurdle), wrestling (in three styles), quoits, .high jump, long jump, and hop step and jump, Highland dancing- (tor ■adults and juveniles),, bagpipe music, throwing the hammer, tossing the -caber, and putting the stone. Besides the champion events there are' several 'bicycle 'races, including a .£2O wheel race, which, has been included at the special request of i\ number of cyclists in WahgaHui and up the- coast. We understand for this, event, some 20 or 30 will enter, which should make the event a feature of the mcctiug.' For the Mile Handicap, the first prize' is .£lO, which should induce a big entry. The programme is. slightly different to the usual one issued, by' the local Society, inasmuch' that a number of which have not- been catered for during the last 1 few years have been included, viz., wrestling, high jdmp, and hop, step, and jump. We hope to Bee big entries for these events, which should prove' very interesting. The entries close on January 7th, with the secretary (W. R. Remington).
