CHRIST CHURCH CLUB.

- The following is the drawing for the second round of the draughts, tournament: — Cooke v Martis, AnSrews v Schofield, ,Trantve.tter v Woon, Dymock v Harris, Williamson v Kite 1 / -Rabone v G. Harris, Sheppard v Barhett, T. B. Maclean v Gray, Gurr v Bartlett, Edwards v Harrison, C. Maclean v Haines, Smith v Young. • All players are to meet by Friday night. The. ladies' hockey te.am in connection with the club is putting in some good practice, and some 'of the players show very good form. A Coronation Band 'has been formed. About thirty members are- taking part in the Band, and some good music is promised. ' i The Debating Committee has decided that the meeting of the Debating Society fixed for next Thursday shall be postponed until Thursday, 19th June. Members are requested to note the .alteration in date. The hockey players meet on Wednesday evening for the usual ' practice. Those having sticks of, their own are asked to bring them. An enjoyable social was held lastevening, to welcome the members of the newly-formed ladies' branch of the club. There was a good attendance, and a capital programme was provided, including -pianoforte '» .selections by Messrs (C. W. Naylor and Walter Impett, the latter also giving » "pianoforte sketch/ vocal items by. the Misses Light,. L. Delves, and Cummins, and Messrs; A. S. C. Anderson and B. J. Stevenson.' Ping pong, euchre, and other games were interspersed with the musical items, and altogether a. most enjoyable evening was spent. The re-, freshments, which were provided, in < abundance, were much appreciated, and. the thanks of the «lub 'are ;duej» the Misses L.. Newcombe, Cummins, Williams, Purser (2), and Gower for their kindness in superintending this part of ' the social, and also to Messrs A: J. Molloy and B. Stevenson, who were responsible for the programme.
