James MacLaren, committed for sentence for theft from a dwelling, was to.day sentenced by Judge Williams to two years' imprisonment, to take effect' on completion of the sentence of three | months he is now undergoing. , A boy, for throwing a lighted paper' in a half-way bush Post-office bos, burning one letter out of 60, was sen- ', tenced to twelve strokes of the birch rod. ' ; WELLINGTON, February 14. I In the Supreme Court, Walter Clifford, for theft of a bicycle, was admitted to probation for twelve months. Jospeh Angus, who kept a refreshment booth at the Trentham camp, was fined £10 at the Magistrate's Court today, and his assistant (Laura Golder) £5 for selling intoxicants— a liquor which he called hops — during the encampment of the Eighth Contingent.
