Lastly, he had the oversight A the Army's work in the German umpire. Here he spent seven successful years, raising the work from a position of insignificance and weakness to me of strength and power, until there ire now in Benin alone, twenty Societies and five Social Institutions, rhile the German officers number near* y 400. It was while in Germany that 'te met the lady who is now his wife. ilrs McEie, nee Miss Mary Meidinger, 3 a native of Frankfort-on-the-Maine md an officer of large' and varied experience in the Army's work, having icted in the dual capacity of Editress if Der Kriegsruf," the German edition of the "War Cry," and Social Sec•etary for the Women's Rescue Work, 'or which work she had been, previously fitted b- being trained as a nurse .n one of the public hospitals, her father being a doctor.
