(Per United Press Association.)
HOKITIKA, February 14.
The weather turned out wet for today's function. It has been raining since midnight, but now there is some slight indications of the weather clearing. The Premier and party arrive from Kumara at midday, and immediately after arrival he will drive the first pile of the Hokitika River Bridge of the railway extension to Robs. At 3- o'clock he will lay the foundationstone of the memorial to the men from Westland who served and are serving in South Africa. At night he attends a banquet at Rimu.
Mr. Seddon proceeds to Boss to-mor-row morning, where he will be entertained at luncheon, and afterwards turns the first sod of the Bobs Bailway, and Mrs Seddon lays the founda-tion-stone of the memorial to be erected to the memory of Trooper J. K. Allen, Third Contingent, who died in Sonth Africa. A large social will be held in the evening.
On Monday evening the Premier trill be entertained at a banquet at Hokitika, tendered by the electors of the Westland constituency, as a mark of esteem of the Premier's Imperial work.
To-day is being observed as a publicholiday, but it is feared the weather will largely spoil the intended general display.
