THE CHURCHES.

To-morrow's Service*. At St. Paul's, the Rev. R. M. Ityburn will occupy his accustomed place. The sermons at several of the churches to-morrow will bear on the subject of temperance. At Trinity Church the Rev. H. It. Dewsbury will preach morning aud evening. In the Gospel Hall, in, the evening, Mr Corrie Johnston is to give an address on "The God Rejected and God" Accepted man." • A Volunteer Church Parade irill be held at Christ Church to-morrow looming, when the Rev. T. B. Maclean, chaplain to the battalion, will r-i'pach. At 3 p.m. there will be a flower service, conducted by His Lordship the Bishop At the Primitive Methodist Church the Rev. J. Cocker will speak in the morning on "Mary Magdalene," and' in the evening "Gideon, tho Beforiner," will be the subject, when lessons for ' temperance workers will be specially referred to. - The nineteenth anniversary 'f the Baptist Church will he celebrated -tomorrow, when the Rev. Arthur Dewduey will conduct the services. In the morning he will preach on "Waiting for the Power." The evening service is ihe monthly young men^s service, when Mr Dewduey's subject will be "Thyself." A special feature is to be made of the Christmas "services at the Weslcyan Church, and in connection therewith the choir held a successful practice lust evening of the music to be ren-lerpd, wliich will include "The Hallolajah Chorus," "Tho Gloria," "Tho Heavens are Telling," and other choruses from the great masters. Under the auspices •f the Ministers' Association, a temperance meeting will be held on Monday next, in St. Paul's Hall, when addresses will be delivered by the Revs. H. B. Dewsbury, A. Dewdney, J. Cocker, and others. The Bey. R. M. Ryburn will preside. There will be no collection, and abstainers and nonabstainera are invited to attend. Major and ■ Mrs Evans, divisional officers of the Saltation Army, arrive to-day, and will conduct an open rir meeting to-night. To-morrow they will instal the new officers, Ensign and Mrs Mathers. At the meetings to be hold in the Barracks at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Adjutant Rust will also be present. On Monday night they will conduct a public meeting. To-night a Christmas tree is to be held in the Christ Church Schoolroom. 'The tree is in aid of building a new class room in St. John's Sunday School. It has been promoted by the unaided efforts of the teachers of the school, ■ while the scholars are providing the entertainment. The prizes on the tree are of good value to the number of 300. Admission will be 6d and 3d. The Bishop administered the rite of confirmation at Christ Church last evening to over SO candidates. There was a large congregation. Tho service was choral, the prayers being intoned by the Bey. T. B. Maclean, the lesnon being read by tho Bey. H. P. Cowx, M.A. The Bey. A. O. Williams, as • Bishop's chaplain, carried the pastoral staff. Dr Wallis will also administer the rite at St. Mary's Upokongaro, tomorrow morning, and at the Collegiate School in the evening. 1
