PURUA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Purua Road Board was held this morning, when there were present — The chairman (Mr F. A. Kurth), Messrs Livingstone, Higgie and Rice. EEPOBTS — The Chairman reported that he had gone over Torres -Street with Mr Heinold, and that the latter had been allowed to make the road as it seems bCBt to those interested.
DRAINAGE— The Chairman also reported that ho had seen Mr Chamberlain regarding the drainage complained of by him and suggested that tho Board put in a culvert. Resolved "That Messrs Higgic and Rico and the Chairman bo a committeo to inspect Mr Chamberlain's entrance and^ deal with it. * ' . LICENSING COMMITTEE EXPENSES—Letter from the Patea County Council applying for Licensing Committee expenses. Resolved "That the clerk write the Kaukatea,,Mangawhero, and the-Wangachu Road Boards, and aak if they will join with this Board in contesting the claim of the Patea ■County Council for licensing expenses.'REES STREET— Letter from Mrs Drummond, re Rees Street. Mr Higgie reported that he and the foreman had .inspected tho road complained of by Mrs Draramond, and said that the removal of stumps of the trees in the road would be- necessary in formation, and," that it would cost much money. Resolved "That the Chairman "and Mr Bice visit the place and report .at next | meeting." ! SHAKESPEARE CLIFF ROAD— Letters) from, the -Wanganui County Council (1) asking for consent of Board to tho road from, the .bridge to Shakespeare's Cliff being declared a district , road ; (2) stating terms of hire of road grader. Mr Neilson. chairman of the Mataongaonga Road Board attended, and asked the Board to give its consent ns- asked by the Council, and stated -that his Board would take over the portion of the road under Shakespeare's Cliff if this Board would hand over territory, the rateable value of which would, produce in rates JEIO. Resolved", on the motion of Mr Livingstone, secouded by Mr Rice, 'That the Council ■be informed that this Board will con-,sent-to the portion of Shakespeare's Cliff road, lying Between Dune's Creek "and the boundary between this district and the Mataougaonga Doad District, provided that the Mataongaonga Road Board -wjll take the road over- and the portion of the Durie estate lying between. Dune's Creek and the Mataonga-onga-Road District." ■ ACCOUNTS — Accounts nmonnting to JE79 13s Id were passed for payment and the meeting closed.
