Mr Pirani asked whether there wacr any possibility of .the system being given a'trial oh a portion of the New Zealand railways. / Sir t Joseph Ward paid the correspondence showed that the Government were prepared to have a trial made on the Auckland section under . certain conditions. Tha matter had been referred to the Railways Committee, and the Government were awaiting its report before they considered whether any other steps' could be taken.
