Proposal to Submit the Fiscal Issue to a Referendum.
Received October 29, 10.6 a.m. , ALBANY, October 29. ' It is .stated that the Federal labour members favour Mr Hughes's- proposal to submit the- fiscal issue to a referendum.
A meeting of the party is to be held tc -morrow to decide whether to vote solidly for the excision of duties on- tea, coffee, cotton goods, and other necessbries, maljing up the deficiency by increased dutjes pn luxuries sugh" as,narcotics amd stimulants.
