Mr.^Lllen, during the subsequent proceedings, save the House his reasons for his withdrawel on Friday night. They were, ho said— (l) The general wish of members on both sides, and (2) that, he had a fit of generosity. The Premier at once took this up, declaring' emphatically that if Mr Allen had said that on Friday he would not have "accepted the withdrawal. Things looked sulphurous and the debate was adjourned till to-day.
