ACCIDENTS AND FALITIES. HORRIBLE RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
A MAN DREADFULLY MUTILATED. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 22. A man about 40 to 45 years of age was terribly mutilated at the Rattray Street railway crossing to-night. So far he has not been identified, and nothing was found on him to give any clue to his identity. The man was evidently caught by the train in shunting, while going or coming from the wharf, and carried from one side of the street to the other, probably 4 dewSrt waggons passing over him. His left thicch. dnd right arm are smashed, right foot and rif»ht hand cut off, three-fourths pf his •cal'p torn away, and bis_ chest injured. He was taken .to the Hospital; whSro he died at about 11.30:
