The Manaroa arrived aY-Wellington at 8.50 this -morning after a good.run. The Huia arrived at Wellington -at 9 o'clock last night "and the Stormbird at 9.50. The latter -steamer will leave here again on'Thnr&iav at mid-day, arriving nt Wellington .lbout midnight. This "will give those jjoiug by the vessel an opportunity of witnessing all the grand ceremony , of the departure of the Royal party on Friday. . The fine twin-screw steamer - Rimu arrived at the wharf at 10 a.m. yesterday, with 166 tons, of coal for the Railway Department* ' She left Greymouth on Friday at 8.30 p.m., and was off the bar at midnight on Saturday, too late for the tide. We understand that the -vessel will in future make Wanganui a port of call. The Gertie arrived at Weatport on Saturday at 11 p.m. from thi* port. The ship St. David, has arrived at Newcastle from Delagoa Bay. Eight .-if the crew out of twelve were down with malarial fever and one died. The balance of the crew had a hard time in -working the ship and attending to the •ick.

The Jane Douglas, which left for Jackton's Bay threa weeks ago, with Bishop Grimes and priuts, and of whose whereabouts there was some anxiety owing to severe weather on the coast,, is reported to be on her way to Hokitika, all safe. She passed Okarito at 5 o'clock last evening. She was several days weather bound at Okura. Two vessels which will hare a greater toanage and displacement than the ttiammoth Celtic are now being constructed at tho new' yard of the Eastern Shipbuilding Company at New London, Conn. These large vessels are being built for the Great Northern Steamship Company, and will ply between Seattle and the Orient. Each* will have a tonaage of 21,006 -and a load displacement of 58,400 tons, against 36,700 tons of the Celtic. They will carry first, sec•ond, and third-class passengers, besides* a large number in toe steerage.' The twin-screw steamer Ruapehu, built by Messrs Denny and Brothers (or the New Zealand, Shipping Company, has been'given a trial trip down . the Firth of Clyde. The vessel's dimensions are 457 ft x 58ft, by 34ft moulded, and 7700 gross tonnage. Tho machinery consists of two sets of triple-expansion engines, steam being supplied by four single-ended boilers, at a pressure of . 1901 b. On the trial a .speed of fourteen knots was attained. .
