Lord Kitchener reports that during' the marching from Verdi General Elliott engaged Do Wet near Reitz on the 6th, ana severe fighting ensued. Sladden'3 mounted troops displayed great gallantry. Seventy-one loaded waggons were captured, 45 prisoners taken, 58 rifles, 10,000 rounds of small arms ammunition, and 4000 cattle. Tho Boers left 17 killed and 3 wounded. The British had 3 officers and 17 men killed and 1 officer arid. 24 men wdttndea. ' . General Elliott has reached Kroonstadt.
BRUSSELS, June 15. The Belgian newspapers, which gen-, erally are inspired from the Transvaal Legation, assert that Knjger is using the Netherlands secret code to communicate with Botha and Schalkburger. The newspapers also predict that peace is imminent. Mrs Botha interviewed Kruger at The Hague.
