THE EXPERIENCES OF AN ESCORTING CONSTABLE.

SYDNEY, June 14.

A constable conveying "a- prisoner to the Albury train - stopped at the station at midnight, and on the excuse of going to- the lavatory, the prisoner fumpau off. The constable fired two shots at the prisoner, who escaped, but next morning was arrested 15 miles from the scene of the escape. The prisoner who had -flesh wounds in the leg as the result of the constable's shot had his hands terribly bruised, and had dragged off the hand-cuffs.
