Immediately he grasped with horror tho situation, and with a superhuman effort he gripped the hnndlos tighter and swerved the machine to one side, -out of danger. Possers-r.y stood horrified, expecting an awful calamity. But when they recognised that the machine was Gne of the famous Red Birds, they again breathed freely, and acknowledged tho superiority of that particular make of Bicycle over all others, aud'whilßb complimenting him npon his marvellous escape, ono and all emphatically expressed the opinion that Red Birds had proved,, beyond all doubt, that they arc absolutely before nil others in durability and strength.
