The fact' of the Court being in mourning precludes ' the observance of the 24th as the King's Birthaay,- ; bnt, lest Civil servants should be. deprived of a holiday, the Kingf has ordered the day to be observed quietly in memory of his i mother. '*'" •-" s There are indications that* some functions associated with the Sovareign's lUrtnday have been fixed ultimately for a day in the summer, probably the anniversary of the Coronation. -"- ■ It ia now -announced -19, London that there is to be no official celebration on the King's birthday on -M&^ 24th.
