Lord Ranfurly's reply to King Edward is as follows: —^The New Zealaudors desire to humbly thank His Majesty for his gracious message, and to assure him that, come weal or woe, they will ever be 'ready to prove by action their true loyalty to His Majesty and the Empire they are proud to belong to/
