'the notorious "gentlemanly" bushranger, . "Captain \ Starlight" in Perth last week, recalls the fact that Mr Rolf Boldrewood's fawoua Australian story ."Robbery Under Arms," has this interesting personage as its hero. The author \waa personally acquainted with "Starlight," whose career was not stained with, blood. Ona of the most popular heroes on' the Australian stage to-day is Mr Alfred Dampier's representation of "Captain"Starlight/ and within the last two years no play has been revived in Sydney as Boldrowood's breezy historical romance. "The King's Musketeer," to be produced at the Opera House- during the forthcoming 1 ' Crane-Power season, is a dramatisation o£ Duma'<s "Three Musketcors." Under the title of "The Royal Pardon," aa American star, Edwin Thome, produced the play splendidly at the Opera House, Melbourne; with a powerful cast, including our. late friend, Mr Nat Douglas; but the piece was a rank failure .Some years later a London, craze set in for Duma's powerful work, and Buccess followed it to Australia, 'where it has been one- of the successes of the day. What is there, in a name?
