'■ LONDON, November 15. Major-Goneral Hutton has returned to England. He declared that nil the officers placed a very high value on the services of the Australian mounted forces hiTSouth Africa.
An ex-Landrost of a leading Transvaal town, now n prisoner at Durban, states that after tho battle of Spion Kop tho lato General Jonbert reported that tho war was hopeless, and advised tho Boors to sue for peace, but Kntger refused. The Landrost admits that a conspiracy to oust the British existed, and that many young Boers were spec'ally trained in Europe as military engineers in readiness for war. '
