KHAKI-CLAD BOERS SURPRISE PICKET.

A DESPERATE FIGHT.

LONDON, July 15. Lord Dundonald captured the camp of the Boers, who destroyed the Leuwspruit Bridge, on the .Pretoria main line. Lieut.-General Rundle occupied Wil top, south-nest of Harrrsmith. A party of Boers, clad in khaki, surprised a picket of 25 Yorkshires at Lindley. The picket fought doggedly. Thero vyere 18 casualties. The rest were reinforced. A Reuter's message says that Schreiner holds the opinion that the Republics ought to retain a measure of independence.
