ARMED NATIVES ASSIST THE BOERS.
Received July 16, 1 a.m. LONDON, July U. Tho Daily Mail states that many of the British struggled back. Armed natives assisted the Boers. Botha's attack was a desperate effort to relieve De Wet, who was wedged in a small area which adjoined the Drakcnburgs, and Basutoland. Two thousand troops, with four guns, under De Larey, surprised Nikola Nek. The Scots Greys' 'gunners lost 40 trying to hold the hill, while the Lincolns lost 5 officers out of 10, including Colonel Roberts (wounded and captured). Tho total captured is unknown, as stragglers are still returning.
WELLINGTON, July 15. The Premier has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, 13th, 7 p.m. — "For the relief of pressure on De Wet's force, tho Boers attacked Lord Roberta' detachments at 'four points — to the southwest, west, north, and south-east of Pretoria. The south-west and Southeast attacks wcie repulsed, while tho cue to the west was successful, with rather serious disaster."
