It appears that there was some great pport at Turakiua last Saturday afteinoon in connection with the race meeting promoted there, the animals engaged for the most pail assuming names connected with the South African war. The principal event — the Turakina Cup— was endowed to the princely amount of 158, and was appropriated by an aged, yet jaunty-looking customer rejoicing in the naino of Kruger. Some of the events brought the persons interested under the ban of displeasure ou the part of the officials, and it is rumoured that in ono particular instance where disqualification was insist cd on, that the aid of the powers that bo will be invoked at an early date to try aud upset the decision.
