ODDFELLOWS' HALL.
'THE GEORGIA MAGNET."
Whatever the power may bo with which Miss Abbott is so extraordinarily giftod, thero can bo no gainsaying the fact that its forceful character is little short of wonderful. Last night the audienco in the Oddfellows' Hall had ocular demonstration of some extraordinary feats in weight-lifting by one not only youthful iv appearance, but evidently not gifted with anything approaching moro than ordinary physical strength. The committee of fifteen — some of them well-known local athletes — triod individually aud collectively to bodily move or lift tho little lady, who encouraged them occasionally with the remark, "Now, brace yourselves, gentlemen," but they had tt> confess themselves completely baftled, and retiied thoroughly mystilied. Of course there were many tluories as to how suck teats were so easily accomplished, but one after the other was rejected. There will be another perfoimauce to-night, the last appearance of Miss Abbott in Wanganui, when the exhibition will be repeated before what is anticipated will be a crowded house.
