WELLINGTON MUNICIPAL ROLL.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 4.
Last week new names to the number of 648 were put on the municipal roll, of which 413 were residential claims. The roll now contains 6792 names.
The prevalent use of slang by by all classes of the community is as astonishing as it is lamentable. Primarily it implies oa tho part of tho speaker a poverty of English proper; secondly, a wanton preference for the vulgar and the inornate; lastly, culpable indolence and want of care.
