AN EXPENSIVE ASSAULT.
Before Mr Justice Cohen and a jury a Sydney waiter named Frederick Fox claimed ,£2OOO from John Walker, res-t.uirant-keeper, for injuries through an r^anlt. Plaintiff was in the employ of defendant, and the head waiter one day told him to lake a drunken customer away in a cab. He did so. When he came back and told defendant where ho i:ad been defendant called him a liar, knocked him down, and shook him. He had p. severe pain in his shoulder after (his, and several doctors pronounced that Ie was suffering from "spasmodic wry nec-k.' 1 For the defence no evidence was > ailed, but it was stated that no one more deeply regretted the unfortunate termination of tho assault than defendant. The iiiry brought in a verdict for plaintiff, d .mages £1122.
