THE GATTON TRAGEDY.

Brisbane, January 13.
Tho police have discovorod something in a water-hole in the vicinity of tho scone of the Gatton. tragedy which, they state, will have an important bearing on the case. '
A settler at Toowoomba Btatos that Burgess came to his house for food. The latter told him thatra man and two women had been murdered, and that tho man had been shot.
This statement was made beforo it was known that the man had been shot.

Buigess admitted to the police that he camped on tho night of the murder close to the water hole whero tho discovery was made.
His movements up to the time of his arrest are being traced.
