A NEGLECTED GRAVE.

•tO THE EWToh. Bib, — On looking at some illustrations of Wanganui in the Press, I noticed ou the ' Lion Monument tho name of Mi Broughton, and it would appear fiom the inscription that he is buried in Wangauui. This is not the case, as his remains lie close to the liver in the town of Paten. I knew this long ago as I had read the subject up and discovered the position of his grave in an old field book, and I marked it ou the map. When down at Easter I had a search for it in company with my old friend, Mr J. Kenwoithy. I knew where to look, but could not find it, tho place being a mass of low scrubby bushes, but we were lucky in meeting a man who recollected seeing the palings round it years ago which have long since decayed away. At any rate, nothing now marks the spot, though I certainly think there ought to be something in tho shape, say, of a totara cross ; but who is to erect it it is not my place to say. — I am, etc., W. F. Gordon. New Plymouth, June 6.
