Second Handicap Hurdle Race, of 80 boys ; second hor*a to receive 10 soys from the stakes ; distance, about 2 miles ; over seven flights of hurdles, 3ft 6in in height. 125— G. From a good start Torpina jumped off in front after the first fifty yards, Dante, Missfire, and Britannia in that order. Passing the stand on the first round, Torpina, Dante, and Missfire roso simultaneously at the jump, thofirst named rapping hard, and then Dante took up the running to the three-quarter -mile post. Torpina came again, and raced down the bi>ck of the course a quarter of a length behind Dante, Missfire whipping, and Britannia hopelessly out of it, At tho qnarter-mile posi Torpina left Dante, who made a hard struggle to get up, and won by two lengths, Missfire, four lengths behind Dante,third. Time, 4min 12-sth sec. Total, 625— £4 10s. Grandstand Steeplochase Handicap, of 120 boys ; second horss to receive 20 soys from the stakes; distance, about 2J miles; over such course as the stewards shall direct. 182— T. From a good start, Bradshaw went to the front, Claymore, Riot Tally-ho fol lowing in that order, Troubadour baulking and taking no part in the race. The above order was maintained passing the stand, but on coming out of the Rec. Claymore took command, Bradshaw, Riot, Plain Bill and Tali-ho, coming next. Going through the Rec. on the last round no alteration took place, but coming ont over the last gorse hedge Plain Bill took premier position, and coming en full of running won by two lengths, Claymore a quarter of a length in front of Riot. Time smin 31 3-sth sec. Total— 669 — £3 6s. The race was run in a heavy shower. The winner was heartily cheered on returning to the scale. (

Vigil, Cloister, Frisco, and Scimitar passed the stand in the order named on the first round. At the back stretch Scimitar ran up to within half -a length of the first-named, but fell away beaten soon after. On entering the straight, Vigil had a -slight advantage over Cloister, but the latter, gaining at the jumps, managed to stall off Vigil, and won by three parts of a length. Time, 4min 16 3-sth sec. Totah-sator--£475—£2 3s. Protest not yet decided. Second Haok Hurdle Handicap, of 40 boys; second horse to receive 6 soys from the stakes ; about 1} miles ; over six flights of hurdlef, 3ft Gin in height. 193— A. Leicester's Alpine, 11.2 (Walls) 1 180— G. Chamberlain's Caibo, 10.9 (Stevens) 2 37— J. Barns' Speabshot, 9.0 (Arnott) 3 Also started— loo Violet, 10.5, Green. The latter fell at the first jump leading into the straight, and the jockey wa3 injured. Alpine won very easily at the finish, notwithstanding the determined efforts of the two other placed hores. Time, 3min 3 l-sth sec. Total— slo— £2 7s.
Brazen Lad won the Sydney Birthday Cup, with Duddington second, and Silvia third.
The Birthday Handicap was won by Chavalier. { Theprincipal prices realised at thesale at Sydney of Mr Horden's\ horses were — Cravat, 320 guineas; Vivian, 600; Johansen (late Nansen), 320 ; Toreador, 260 ; apd the Grandmaster — First Love colt, 340.
