The^epjQQfl, trial pf Zola commenoed at "Versailles in connection with his denunciation of the army officials. As a means towards securing the release of Dreyfus, M. Labori, Zola's counsel, objected to the change of venue from Paris, and protested that a Paris jury was an essential procurenr. The Prosecutor-General asked for the rejection of what he characterised as a frivolous plea, and said the law would reach Zola, despite any subterfuges which might be resorted to. The Court dismissed Zola's objeotion, and M. Labori consequently appealed to the Court of Cassation, and the proceedings ended, pending the, result of the appeal.
