The Seddon Government.

The Seddon Government has itood out for six yeara. No Government is freo from faults, and the present administration is no exception, to the role. Mistakes have been made ; but che man who make* no mistakes doom't exist, and the Government that ooulnd'fc err cannot be fonnd. In spite of all, the present Ministry has done its best, and it has done that at a time when any party was likely to err. There was the banking business. Some people said, ' Why not let the Bank go?' But it was impossible to dd so. Such persons did not know what they were talking about. That ruinous wave of financial depression had to be stemmed. Then there wan the Midland Bailway business. Through that orisis the Premier emerged triumphant. Had ht lost the arbitration case the Administtation wonld have fallen. For the advanooe to settlers, and for the State resumption of land for Tillage Settlement, the Government deserve all oredit. For these gigantio and advancing ehangei, if for these only, they are entitled to the gratitude of the whole colony. The Alien Bill, and the Bill granting employees a half holiday will complete our review for the present. It is now propoied to borrow a f urthes sum of one j million) of which amount substantial | apportionments will be givey to goldfield necessities. The cry that capital was being punned out of the country is a patent falsity. Confidence is restoring, and restored, and there is every reason to believe that the people of the colony will not fail to give the Government further support. The eleotions are coming on presently, and there if every iudication that the preieut Liberal administration will be entrusted, for another term at least, with the trust of the great bulk of the people of Hew Zealand.— Coromandel Sun.
