WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Wanganui County Council was held this (Friday) morning at the Council Chambers, to consider and settle the balanee-sheot. There were present — Cr». Sommerville (in the chair), Patterson, Cowan, Morgan, and Howie. On the motion of fcho ohairmaa, it was deaided that the balance-sheet, as audited, be settled at once. Ordinary Meeting. Present— Ors. Sommervile (chair), Bobs, Cowan, Patcrson, and Howie. Minutes— The minutes of fcbe last ordinary and committee meetiugs were read and confirmed. Correspondence —A letter was road from the Poundkeeper, asking for payment towards a Pound board, and on the motion of Cr. Ross, it was decided that tha Poundkeeper be allowed hall; the cost of the material. Transfers — Tho following transfers were grunted •' — James Wiggins to Lizzie McKay and W.Goidßack to Robert Neilson. Delegate — The Ohairmaa was appointed to represent the Council at the New Zealand Coonties Association. Tenants — Letter from Mr Coupy, asking to be allowed to root the land next, Modee's cottage. On the motion of Or Morgan, it was decidedUo allow 40 feet frontage, to commence 14 fest from MoQ-ee's house, and that the rent be £2 2s a year for the ground ; Mr Coupe to remain during the pleasure of the Council, aud it wati also decided that Messrs Oorby »nd MoQ-eo pay £2 2s perye»,r each, ground rent, in future. Bastern Line — It was decided, on the motion of the Chairman, that Mr Bdmund. Morgan be apppoiotod to value the Eastern Lino in the Purua aud Kaukatea Road Districts, and that the Ohairmaa arrange with Mr Morgan as to his remuneration. Letter from Mr Nixon calling the attention of tho Council to the stato of tho road to his pit, and askiog that it be nut in order. Left with the Chairman to arrange with Mr Uixon. Furze onEastown Road— The Chairman reported that Mr Purnell had informed him that he had cleared th« furze off the road, and asked that all 'others be made to do the earns. Decided that notice be given to all owners of properties abutting on Matuongaongo Road, to clear tho same of furze. Bepiirs — Resolved to repair the fenne on either s : de of the Council office. Drain— lt was decided to write to the proprietor of Bed Lion Hotel requesting him f o put an apron on bis drain. Upongaro Ferry — Cr Ross reported that (he approaches to tho ferry had been satisfactorily completed. Honorarium — Moved by Or Koss and carried unanimously, that the chairman be allowed an honorarium of £10 psr annum. Wanganui Bridge — Crs Bommerville, Roes, aud Morgan were appointed a committee to wait upon the Borough Counoil to discms repairs and management of tho Wanganui Bridge. Accounts — Accounts to tho amount of £L2O 6s lOd were passed foi payment, and the Council adjourned.
