June 5» The purchase of the Mangapapa blook on the Waitotara River is bsing completed. There are only a few more native signatures to be obtained, And it is believed the blook will be available for settlement within a month. The death is announced of Alexander MoOarty, who was well-known in Parliamentary oiroles, as the attendant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, at the age of eighty years. The Government steamer Stella has been leased for twelve months with a purchasing clause, by J. A. Fleming, engineer of Auokland. She leaves for Auckland at the beginning of next week. .
