MUSEUM EXHIBITION COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the committee of th« / Wanganui Museum Exhibition aad, Fancy s Fair was held at the Library Chambers last evening. Present— Messrs Burnett l (in the chair), Collins,, Nixon, , Ba^SWt, Spordle, Huddleston, ' Tawse, Serjeant, Drew, Andrews and Ball; and Mesdames Williamson, S. Wright, Spurdle and Carson. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. Carson and Turner and Mrs White. After the minutes of Ac previous meeting had been (read and confirmed, Mr Burnett reported that Mr EobertsoH and himself had waited npoa Mr Buxton, traffic manager, with refer* ecco to organising cheap railway excursions and the concessions of fre«, carriage for exhibit*. The outcome of the deputation had been that a letter .had been forwarded to the Minister for Railways, requesting him to grant the nacsssary permission for the free carriage of, exhibits. The matter of arranging exhibits was in the keeping of Mr Buxton, who, they were convinced, would make satisfactory arrangements. Mr Burnett also reported I that the advertisement with reference to the Exhibition and Fair had been, published in both papers, and further, that it had been severely dißonssed, which he - considered was a very henltby sign. Mr ' ' Spurdte, on behalf of the Hall Committee, reported on the arangemect of the hall, and having explained the details of the different departments, regretted that Mr Atkine, who had devoted much time and trouble to the preparation of the, plans, was prevented by ill-health front attending the meeting. 'Hie plans having bees laid on the table and met with general approval, Mr Spurdle moved , that the plans m submitted be adopted and that the committee have power to carry out the work. Mr Drew seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Tbe matter of redrafting the advertisement was left in the hands of Messrs Burnett and Nixon. Other routine matters having been dealt with the meeting ad* journed till Tuesday next.
