The Assessment Court.
TO TEX EDITOB.
Si»,— Allow me ta contradict a statement made by, Mr' J. p, Watt in the Assessment Court last Wedne«day re Minnooherft case. He (the valuator) st»eed that he had been over my property since the objection was lodged. This I moat emphatically deny, for he* was never inside mr gate before or after. On the 28th March, Messri W»tt and Liffiton drove up to my place in a buggy, and, without getting down, looked over a ten feet hedge. Mr Watt said that my cottage was worth, nothing, and yet he put* it down at nine shillings a week I When asked how many rooms were in the house, he said two, when, as a matter of fact, there are four. If my case (and I will leave it to the judgment of my fellow ratepayers) be a criterion, I am not surprised at the general dissatisfaction expressed regarding the valuation.— l am, etc.,
O. Mxhhoobhsi.
