The above matoh, for the HBtfAED Gap, was concluded on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for the United Club by 26 runs. The Wanganui not out «aen— K. Cave* and A. N. OavJk. resumed batting to Stemson and Kite, nine runs added to the score, K. u.ve was taken by Grammar, off Stemso^ at point. L. Gave added four, when a trimmer from Stemson took his stumps. At this staee Hatrick, who had come on at the other end, sent a long hop to A, N. Cave, who in trying to place it to leg, was taken by Smith. The next four men, Meldrum, Hole, Parkes and Stewart, all fell rapidly to Hatriok, and the innings oloead for 58, a deficiency ot 26. Beth Stemson and Hatriok trundled remarkably well, whilst Grammer deserves more than s> passing word for his splendid work in the field. The following ore the scores : —

Arrangements baring been finally completed, the work of forming a first-class ground on Cook's Gardens will be commenced this week, and continued all through the winter. The ground on Victoria Park is also to be taken in hand, enlarged and improved. The United 0.0. will hold a special meeting at the Hbbaxd Offioe, Ridftwtystreet, on Thursday night next at 7.30 p.m. As very important business is to be transacted, every member is requested to attend.
