Tho following are the results of the principal events : — Mbtbopoutan- Handicap, 1 mile. Chapman 1 Cusacks 2 Freeman , 3 - Boyd, of New Zealand, was mads favourite, owing to his having won his heat by making a phenomenal run when apparently defeated. A great race waa I expected in the final, but Chapman had 1 a very easy win. Boyd hung on to Megson, but the handicap men proved too much for both of them, Time, 2mia 28 3.5 th sec. FiTE.Mii,!! Chamiuonbhip ofAustbama. Megson (Sydney) 1 Lewis (Sydney) 2 Boyd (New Zealand) 1 ... 3 Tandems were used for pacing, which waa merry throughout. Middleton had most of the say for the first three miles, at the end of which only five out of 14 starters were on the track, Bimpson having died one after a splendid spurt. At the end of four miles Lewis was in front, followed by Boyd, Megson, Everett, and Middleton. The latter was apparently tiring-, having fallen at tbe beginning of the 18th lap. Everett ran to the front, , after whom was Lewiß, then Boyd, with Megson last. When the bell announced the last round the order was Everett, Lewis, Boyd, and Megson, only a wheel separating each. After passing the scoring board Megaoa put on a decided challenge, and passing the leaders -won amidst the greatest excitement by a naohine length from Lewis, Boyd being \ good third.
