LABOUR TROUBLES.

The miners ballot hei been completed. The Secretary of the Miners' Association says that the two-thirds majority nsoesssry for declaring a general strike has been secured, but v reticent as to details. The reticence leads to the belief that the supposition that the non-Unionists working in the pita wpuld throw in their lot with the Union hai not been realised. If fchii is to, several collieries will not be affected by the strike, and there will not be a general stoppage of the trade.

The Shearers' Union has decided to oppose the Pastoralisto' Union agreement at every shed, and use every effort to indues non-unionists to join the Union from all parts. Picketted and strike camps have been formed in different district!. They also intend to brinp the, shearing dispute under the notice of the Conciliation Boards with (V ri?<r to an tvnicable settlement.
