The following; extracts-from Defence Office circulars are published for general information :— Extract circular 27 of Ist November, 1894— The Volunteer year will end on the 28th of February next, and in future the Volunteer year will end on the last day of that month. All claims for capitation, to., must reach Defence Office not later than 16th March in each year. ■ Extract oircular 28 of Ist November, 1894— After the last day of the ptesent Volunteer year the usual grant of 100 rounds of ammunition per man to mem.bers of rifle clubs will be discontinued. Extract circular 29 of Ist November, 1894— The Hon. Defence Minister has deoided that the shipment of Martini- 1 Henri rifles recently received from Home are to be distributed in the proportion of 10 to each of the rifle corps in the colony, and the defence storekeeper baa received instructions accordingly.
