Austin and Walford took the total to 72, when Austin was thrown out. Searle came next, and Walford, was caught for 15. Gould joined Searle, who was dismissed at 74. Davis made seven. E. Noble joined Gould and completely changed the aspect of the game, the partnership putting on 88. Gould was bowled at 43, and the Noble brothers were together as the score mounted to 184. The eicitement was intense, as one run was required to save a follow on. Hope took E. Noble at short leg, and Miller, the last man in, stole a run. If Hope had only rofcurnod the ball clean the innings would have had to follow on ; as it was they played out of time, the score being 195 for nine wickets. Play will be continued tomorrow. Lateb.
