The value of the buildings was estimated at 100,000 dollars. The fire at the Exhibition Buildings was the work of an incendiarly. Lord Onslow has sent the Ngatibjaia tribo, after whom his ton born in New Zealand is named, a present of a Union Jack. Washih&tok, January 11. Mr Carlisle, Treasurer, has asked tbe Finance Committee of the Senate to authorise the issue of Treasury bonds iv order to avert a financial crisia. Tho monthly deficit is stated to be one million dollars.
