CRICKET.

Auckland v. Wellington. (Per United Press Association.) Weelingtoh. January 10. Upon Auckland taking the bat in hand Mills, their crack man, was disposed of for 15, and Kallendor, who hit hard for 41, was missed several times. Neill and Stemson made a stand, the former playing steadily for 19 and the lattor knocking up 20. Still eight wickets were down for 120 aud again the visitors had the worst of the game, but Lundon and King, the last two men, knookpd up 43 and brought up the total to 168. In the half-hour that remained Wellington lost Gore, A. Blacklock, Fuller, and HoldBhip for 39, so that after all the Northerners finished the day with somewhat the best of the game. The fielding of Holdship and Gore for Wellington was remarkably good, but that of the remainder was not above the average, a number of catches being missed. January 11.

The weathor to-day is excellent. The second innings of the Wellington men closed for 131, leaving Auckland 144 to get to win. Niven made 23, R. Blacklock 24, and Ashbolt 10. Neill took 7 wickets for 70 and Lundon 3 for 31. At one time it looked as if the Wellington innings would be a complete collabse, but a stand by Niven and Blacklock Boon brought the score up.
