In the Legislative Council the Bank Bill passed through Committee without serious objections being offered. In the House tho Premier has given notice of his intention to introduce a Bill to amend the lunacy laws. It is understood tbe main object is to provido for the care of lunatics belonging to New South Wales in other- colonies and vice versa.
The Stamp Duties BUI has passed through Committee in the Legislative Assembly. The chief feature is to prevent the avoidance of probate duties by the distribution, of property before death. The Government met with a severe rebuff during the ducussion in Committee on the Mining on Private Property Bill. An amendment to limit the area of leases to five instead of 30 acres, was •trongly opposed by the Government and the Minister declared if carried it would result in driving capital oat of the colony. With tbo exception of Sir Henry Parkes and Mr McMillan, who supported the Government, the Opposition sided with the Labour Party and carried the amendment by 46 to 33. Anothsr amendment which was carried and to which the Government objected waa tha redaction to six months instead of 12 as the time after which leases may be can* celled if work if suspended at any time. From the remarks of the Minister of Lands it if understood that he relies on the Legislative Council to delete objectionable altoraterations.
In the Legislative Assembly, in reply to a question, the Premier said there was no leakage of Chinese into this colony, and, therefore there was no necessity to legislate on the question this session.

The Legislative Council haa approved of the proposal to establish village settlements in the colony, but dissented from voting £50 to each settler.
