♦ Mr J. A. Connell found Dead from Gunshot ■Wounds. EevQlver recently Discharged found near the Body. Deceased well-known as " The Tactician." A Strange Coincidence. (Per United Press Association.) Atjoklahd, August 21. Mr John Aitken Connell, aged 61, formerly a resident of Dunedin, was found dead from gunshot wounds this morning in a room at Deacon's Hotel, Riverhead. Deceased wentupthenightbeforein charge of a Government surveyor's parly. He ordered breakfast half-an-hour earlier.but did not come down. His man then went to his bedroom, and saw deceased lying on the bed in » pool of blood. On the carpet, close at hand, was a imall revolver recently discharged. Mi Connell opposed Mr Mitchelson the election before last, when he described himeelf v "the Tactiuien." A year ago he de- _ livered lectures in Wellington on the labour difficulty. A strange coincidence is that Mr Mitohelson'i opponents at the two last elections were both men who met with violent deaths recently.
