" Advertised value ' means the actual amount advertised to be given to the first horse, irrespective of any deductions. A hack means a horse that has never won a raco, or is not nominated at date of entry for any race (Hack and Hunter races excepted). " Maiden " means a horse that has never won an advertised Hurdle Race or Steeplechase at time of entry (Hack Racos excepted). All races to be run under the New Zealand Rules of Racing. No nomination or acceptance will bereceived unless accompanied by the necessary amount payable. The attention of owners is particularly called to this regulation. N.B. — "Applications for election as a gentleman rider must be made to the committee of the Jockey Club in whose district the applicant resides, and must be proposed and oeconded in writing by members of the Club. On election the committee shall issue a certificate, which shall entitle the holder to ride as a gentleman rider on any racecourse where these rules are in force, provided that the certificate may be cancelled at any time on sufficient cause being shown.
