Quicksilver is n beautiful roan, standing 16 hands' 2 inohes h gh, on particularly good legs and feet, has short back, good middle is remarkably quiet tempered, and is very fast. Quicksilver waß sired by the renowned Norfolk trotter Garibaldi; grandsire Old Garibaldi ; g. grandsiro Old Quicksilver, by Eclipse, by Phenomenon. Quicksilver's dam, Louiaa, wa9 ono of the fastest trotting mareß in the West of England. She was by old Sportsman, who was by Old Trotting Wonder, which name he achieved by being trottod against a oolebrated Irish maro on the Torpoint Road, for a bet of £20, which ho won, beating the mare\by half a mile, the distance boing ton miles, which he trottod in 32 minutos 15 seconds." Quicksilver's sire, Garabaldi,-Bas considered the fasteat and grandest goer in England ; he was by Old Garibaldi (which horse was sold to King Victor Einanuol for 800 guineas) out of a mare by Wentworth,whoso siro was Performer ; grandsiro Priekwillow (the champion of England), which gained three first All-England prizes, g. grandsiro Phenomenon, by Wright and Goold's Norfolk Cob, which was sold for 1000 guineas. Old Quicksilver was got by Eclipse out of Dodd's Astonisher (which trotted six miloa in 174 minutes, boating Harkaway), by Joel's Astonißhor.by Sportsman, &a. Eolipso by Phenomenon (whish gained first prize at Wells in 1862, for best hunter and roadster stallion) ; grandsire Old Phonomonon.by Norfolk Phenomenon ; dam by old Fireaway, <to. Eclipse's dam by Varmont, by Trotting Wonder out of Pussy (which was sold to tho Doan of York for 600 guineas), winner of tho Oaks aud many otlior raoes.and was a clever huntress for twelvo successive seasons. Quicksilver gained first prize ot Helstone, and first at Pansauooth when two years old, competing against aged horses. He also took the following prizes in Victoria : — Second prize at Grand National Show, Clunes and Talbot; first prizo at Smeaton ; first prize at Mount Aloiandor Show -first prizo at Kynoton,also special and champion piizo at Kynoton, in 1885; first prize at West Bourko (gold medal) ; first prize at Daylesford ; firat prizo at National Show, Molbourno, 1886, also special prizo to produco hackney and carriage horses. Fiwt prizo at Mount Alexandor ; first prize at Clunes and Talbot ; first prizo at Smoaton (also champion prize) ; first prize at Kynoton, in 1886. First prize at West Bourko ; firat prize at Dayleaford ; shown at Grand Spring Show, Melbourne, 1887 (wrongly classed, but ho was awaided a certificate ot merit for being the boat borao in the yard of liis kind). In 1887 ho gained first prizo and champion urizo at Smoaton ; first prize, and special prize for horse calculated to get best carringo horsos, at Castlomaino ; firat pruo at Ballarat ; first prize at Kynoton ; firat prizo at Dayleeford ; first prizo at Murehiflon j and first piizo at Seymour and Nagimbie, in 1888. First prizo at Dayleaford ; first prizo at IDglewood ; first prizo at Sandhurst; first prize, champion prize, and special prize at Kynnton, in 1889. First at Daylesford, 1890.
