Tho following addross, prosented to His Worship tho Mayor by the Borough Councillors of Wanganui, was then rend by tho Mayor-elect (Councillor 11. Nathan) :— To Alfred John Pabsons, Esq., Mayor, Wanganui. Dear Sir,

We blio undersigned Councillors and officers of tho Borough of Wanganui, cannot allow you to roliro from the position you ha.\ c filled witli such eonspiouous abilily for tho past two years without placing upon record our appreciation of tho unvarying courtesy and success with which you havo at all times porfonned tho duties of Mayor of tho Borough of Wanganui, during tlio timo you have held that honourablo posistion.

We desire particularly to place upon record tho marked success that has attended your efforts to placo tho finances of tho Borough upon a sound and satisfactory basis, and congratulate you most heartily upon tho prosont satisfactory condition of the different accounts of iheßorough funds; this having been mainly brought about by the ability and onorgy you brought to boar upon a most important part of tho onerous duties of your ofllco as Mayor. We are also happy to bear tostimony to tho harmonious relations that have, during your Mayoralty, subsisted between yoursolf and the Councillors and Borough Officials, to ono and all of whom you have at all timoa booi most courteous and obliging. In taking leave of you as Mayoi of this Borough, wo do so with regret, and trust that tho Council may continue to enjoy your valued services at its table, whore you will Hud yourself surroundod by colleagues who thoroughly appreciate your acknowledgod qualifications.

Tho address is now in tlio hands of Mr David Blair, and when complctod, will, as usual, reflect crediton this gentleman's wollknown oxecutivo skill. In eizo it measures about 3ft by 2ft. At tho head is a viow of tho Council Chambers, and at the foot a pretty view of Wanganui, Tho lettering is in Elizabothian text in red, black, and gold, with the name of the recipiont in a largo and artistic soroll. When framed, tho addross will, without doubt, look oitroniely well.
