Cap-a-pie is very highly bred ; being by Maribyrnong, out of Miss Magus; MiBS Magus by Magus, Maribyrnong by Fisherman (imp.), out of Bose de Florence (imp.) Cap a-pie's performances are of the highest class. He beat the great Australian oraok, Chester, afc level weights in A.J.C. Et. Leger, and next day ran forward in the Sydney Cup, carrying top weight ; on the following day, at level weights, he ran a dead heat with Chester, in the Cumberland Stakes (two miles), and, on the race being run over again, Cap-a-pie was only beaten by a short half-head. He was purchased for 600 guineas by the Auckland Stud Company, when first favorite for the Melbourne Cup, at Bst 81b. Cap-u-pio is a handsome dark brown horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches higbp measuring about 8i inches below the knee, and showing great symmetry and power. Cap-a-pie's success at the stud is beyond question.
