I have to report a good sale of cattle on Wednesday, 17th September, much more stock coming forward than was advertised, nnd between 200 and 300 head of cattle were yarded. The fat cows were only light weights and medium quality. All the principal lines were sold under the hammer, and every line, except one small pen of store cows, were cleared j there was more activity ia the cattle market than I have seen for a long timo past, the bidding being brisk throughout. I quote :—: — CATiiiß.— Fat cows, £3 Is ; fat heifers, £2 IBs ; 8-year-old bullocks, £3 7s to £3 9s Gd j 2}-year.old steers, £2 5s to £2 10a; 2-year-old heifers, £ I 4s, £ I Bs, and £1 12s Gd; yearlings to 18-iuonths, 12s, 17s, and 28s ; store cows, 31s to 355 ; forward cows, £2 ss. Shbep. — Store wether?, 11s sd; dry ewes, 7s sd; fat wethers, 15s 2d to 16s ; old ewes and lambs, 6s 3d to 8s Bd. Pigs.— Fat pigs, 20s, 255, 80s; good porkors, 14s to 16s.
