A MISSIONARY PROPOSAL.
At tho Church Congross to-day, the Bishop of Calcutta's proposal that all religious bodies should unite to promote and carry out missionary work, came up for discussion. That Prelate argued that missionary efforts should be devoted to christianising without dogmatising. The Bishop of Carlisle was tho only supporter of tho proposal.

The Times considers there is good reason to hopo tho measure proposed will prove effective. Tho Bank's shares fell to f D, but havo recovered slightly.
